Brad Pitt is set to star in The Riders, a new A24 feature directed by Edward Berger. The film is an adaptation of Tim Winton’s acclaimed novel of the same name, which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1995.

The Riders tells the story of a man who embarks on a journey across Europe with his young daughter in search of his wife — and her mother — who has mysteriously vanished. David Kajganich is adapting the novel for the screen and will also serve as a producer.

The project boasts an impressive team behind the scenes, with Ridley Scott producing through his Scott Free banner alongside Michael Pruss. Berger’s Nine Hours banner and Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment (with Jeremy Kleiner and Dede Gardner) are also producing.

Production is scheduled to begin in early 2026, with filming planned across multiple European locations.

Berger, Kajganich, and Scott Free previously collaborated on the AMC series The Terror.

As for Pitt, he was last seen starring alongside George Clooney in the action-comedy Wolfs and will next appear in the highly anticipated Formula One movie F1, both distributed by Apple.

Berger, currently one of Hollywood’s most in-demand directors, was last seen in theaters with the Vatican-set drama Conclave and recently wrapped filming on the Netflix mystery The Ballad of a Small Player.
