Sebastian Stan and White Lotus breakout Leo Woodall are teaming up for Burning Rainbow Farm, a gripping true-life drama directed by Justin Kurzel. The film is set to be introduced to international buyers at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival by Rocket Science, while CAA Media Finance handles North American rights.

Based on a real story, Burning Rainbow Farm follows Tom Crosslin and Rollie Rohm, a gay couple who created a peaceful, pot-friendly haven in rural Michigan known as Rainbow Farm. Their idyllic life spirals into chaos after a clash with local authorities leads to their son being taken away — sparking a tense standoff with law enforcement and the FBI that became one of the most dramatic sieges in U.S. history.

Stan will portray Crosslin, with Woodall as Rohm. The screenplay, written by Tommy Murphy (Holding the Man), is adapted from the book by Dean Kuipers. The standoff occurred in 2001, mere days before the events of 9/11 dominated headlines.

Director Justin Kurzel, known for his work on The Order and Nitram, described the film as “a love story about two outliers who raise their middle finger to hate and declare, ‘This is who we are, and we dare you to take it from us.’”

The project is produced by Nicole O’Donohue, Kurzel, and Alexandra Taussig for Thirdborn, alongside Adam Shulman (Anonymous Content), Alix Madigan (Mad Dog Films), and Justin Lothrop and Brent Stiefel (Votiv).

Stan continues to take on bold roles, including his recent turn as Donald Trump in The Apprentice. He is repped by CAA, Brookside Artist Management, and Sloane Offer. Woodall, fresh off roles in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy and The White Lotus, is repped by WME, Hamilton Hodell, Anonymous Content, and Goodman Genow.

Kurzel is represented by HLA Management and Sloane Offer, while screenwriter Murphy is with Cameron’s Management and Range Media.
